About Tim
Tim is the second in three generations of UNL graduates. He was born in Omaha, attended Lincoln East High School, and received a Bachelor of Science degree from UNL in 1985. In college, he was active in student government, including as a student body senator, chair of the Committee for Fee Allocations, and a member of the student advisory board. Upon graduation, he used the school's career planning and placement office to help him find a job in Omaha with First National Bank. While in Omaha, he enrolled at Creighton University, earning his Master of Business Administration degree and his Juris Doctorate. This gave him exposure to a second university system. As the years went by, Tim's support of the University of Nebraska continued as he became active with the Omaha Alumni Outreach project, the College of Business Administration Alumni Board (serving as president in 1993), adjunct faculty in the College of Business Administration, Sigma Phi Epsilon Alumni Advisory Board, and a lifetime member in the Alumni Association.
Tim has parlayed his quality Nebraska education into a distinguished career as an attorney, serving more than 15 years with the firm of Rembolt Ludtke in Lincoln. He has been recognized for excellence among his peers, receiving an AV rating for his legal abilities and ethics. This is the highest rating a lawyer can receive. Tim also was recognized for excellence by his peers when he was elected as a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, one of only 38 attorneys so designated in the entire state of Nebraska.
Tim is an active member of the community, serving as the board president and executive board member for Heartland Big Brothers Big Sisters, director member of the Lincoln Children's Museum, and vice president of the board for the Lincoln Estate Planning Council.
Even with a busy schedule, Tim is loyal in his attendance at ballgames and activities with his wife, Amy (another UNL graduate), and five children, one of whom is attending UNL as a freshman. Tim calls family one of Nebraska's best ethics. He is close to extended family, too, including five other UNL graduates: his father Dr. Pat Clare, an orthopaedic surgeon in Lincoln; his mother, Linda Clare; his brothers, Dr. Dave Clare, an orthopaedic surgeon in Lincoln; Dr. Mike Clare, an orthopaedic surgeon in Florida and John Clare, a small businessowner in Lincoln.
"The University of Nebraska has so much to offer the state of Nebraska, the nation, and the world in this global economy. Attributes such as the strength of family ties, a high-level work ethic and strong morals, combined with a quality education, are all selling points that University of Nebraska graduates offer," he says. Tim would like to keep Nebraska's graduates in the state after graduation by helping strengthen the university and its personnel, keep it affordable and create jobs for university graduates, which he knows also would be good for the state's economy and broaden the state's tax base, all reasons he has his eye on a regent seat.
"The University of Nebraska has been so good to me and my family that I feel it is time for me to give back to it. I want to use my experience's to help nurture the strengths of the University and the state of Nebraska," says Clare.
